The pandemic has taken a significant toll on the lives of faculty, with potentially profound implications for the future. High levels of stress, anger, grief, and hopelessness have made many academics consider leaving higher ed.

To uncover the views of professors regarding their careers and job satisfaction, The Chronicle conducted a national survey of more than 1,100 faculty members at four- and two-year institutions. The new Research Brief, “On the Verge of Burnout," discusses the results from this survey and examines the key factors impacting their experience today including mental exhaustion, the disparate effects on certain groups, and institutional response to these faculty concerns.

Download the Research Brief to hear what faculty have to say, and what this means for higher ed institutions down the road.
