A recent Chronicle survey showed that almost 70% of senior-level administrators at regional public colleges do not think the public understands the value of their institution. Often described as the "workhorses" of higher education, regional public colleges help elevate the students and communities they serve.

However, they are often overlooked in favor of their state flagship universities and are now facing declining enrollments and funding cuts.
