Covid-19 has had a profound effect on higher ed, but these effects vary by institution. The Chronicle will explore these respective impacts, and examine how colleges are preparing for the future in a series of virtual forums called The Road Ahead for Higher Education.

The first virtual forum of the series focuses on community and technical colleges, which have seen enrollments drop dramatically as their students — often the populations most affected by Covid — grapple with the effects of the pandemic in their personal and professional lives.

In this forum, our panel will seek to answer:
  • How are community colleges preparing students with the necessary skills for the workplace of the future?
  • How are forward-looking colleges partnering with employers on workforce development?
  • How are community colleges positioning themselves for the future?
