Traditionally, students with media backgrounds have sought positions with newspapers to break into the journalism industry. Now, with a growing number of companies offering robust direct-to-consumer departments, recent graduates from media programs have a large and diverse range of options to choose from when considering a career.
Given that a lot of training for media careers is done at school, what can colleges and universities do to reimagine their programs and give students the proper training with cutting-edge cameras and visual tools? According to Allen Major of Indiana University’s Media School, every class must have a visual component to help make students more well-rounded with the necessary technology.
